01
Agreement and eligibility
These Terms govern your use of KeepKey Wallet, the standalone Android software wallet with package name com.keepkey.wallet (the “App”). The App is provided by Key Hodlers, LLC, doing business as KeepKey (“KeepKey,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By selecting the required acceptance during onboarding or using the App, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Mobile Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
You must be at least 18 years old, legally capable of entering this agreement, and permitted to use the App under the laws that apply to you. The App is not offered where its use is prohibited.
02
Self-custody means you are responsible
The App is non-custodial software. KeepKey does not hold your funds, recovery phrase or private keys; does not operate a hosted wallet account for you; and cannot sign transactions, reverse transactions, freeze your assets or restore a lost wallet.
If you lose every valid recovery method, your assets may be permanently inaccessible. Anyone who obtains your recovery phrase or private keys may be able to control your assets.
You are solely responsible for securing your device, recovery phrase, passphrases, private keys, backup files, backup passwords and passkeys. Do not share them with KeepKey support or anyone else.
03
What this App is—and is not
KeepKey Wallet is a standalone mobile software wallet. The current Android release does not connect to or rely on a KeepKey hardware wallet. It is different from the KeepKey Mobile hardware companion available for other platforms.
The App provides an interface to supported decentralized networks and third-party services. KeepKey does not own or control a blockchain, validate every token or smart contract, guarantee that an asset will retain value, or promise that a particular network or feature will remain available.
04
Transactions, addresses and network fees
You direct every transaction initiated through the App. Before you approve one, verify the network, asset, recipient address, amount, permissions and fee. Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible after broadcast or confirmation. KeepKey cannot cancel, refund or recover a transaction sent to the wrong address or network.
Network fees, validator or miner fees, gas, slippage, liquidity costs and third-party provider charges are not paid to KeepKey unless the App clearly says otherwise. Estimates can change before confirmation. You are responsible for all taxes and reporting obligations arising from your activity.
05
Networks, dApps, swaps and passkeys
The App can interact with blockchain peers and nodes, RPC services, explorers, indexers, WalletConnect/Reown, dApps, smart contracts, market-data services, credential providers and swap protocols. These are third-party or decentralized systems with separate terms, privacy practices and risks.
- A dApp or smart contract can request broad permissions or a harmful signature. Read each request before approving it.
- Swap quotes can change, fail, expire or be affected by price impact, slippage, liquidity and protocol rules.
- A credential provider may store or synchronize a passkey. Removing a wallet from the App may not remove that passkey.
- Tokens, NFTs, names and metadata can be fraudulent, inaccurate, offensive or unavailable.
Unless a feature expressly identifies KeepKey as a provider or fee recipient, KeepKey is not a party to transactions between you and these systems and does not control their acts, omissions or availability.
06
No financial, legal or tax advice
The App may display prices, charts, risk signals, market information, educational content or transaction simulations. They are provided for general informational and operational purposes only. They are not investment, financial, legal, accounting or tax advice, a recommendation, or an offer to buy or sell any asset.
Digital assets can be highly volatile and may lose all value. Evaluate the risks and seek independent professional advice where appropriate.
07
Acceptable use
You may not use the App or KeepKey-operated services to:
- violate any applicable law, court order or sanctions rule;
- commit fraud, theft, money laundering or other unlawful activity;
- interfere with, overload, probe or compromise KeepKey systems or other users;
- distribute malware or attempt unauthorized access; or
- misrepresent your identity or your authority to control an address, wallet or asset.
KeepKey may limit or stop access to infrastructure that KeepKey operates when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance or service integrity. Because KeepKey does not custody your wallet, this does not give KeepKey the ability to freeze assets or control the blockchain.
08
Software licence and open-source components
Subject to these Terms, KeepKey grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to install and use the App for lawful purposes. KeepKey names, logos, website content and original visual assets remain protected by applicable intellectual property law.
Components of the App are provided under open-source licences. Those licences control where they conflict with this general licence. See the Open-source Notices for attribution and applicable terms.
09
Updates, availability and support
We may add, change, deprecate or remove App features, supported networks or KeepKey-operated services. Updates may be required for compatibility or security. We do not promise uninterrupted, error-free or permanent availability of the App, external networks or third-party integrations.
You may stop using the App at any time. Before uninstalling or clearing App data, make sure you have a tested recovery method. Uninstalling the App does not remove blockchain records, third-party data or backup files stored elsewhere.
10
Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App and related information are provided “as is” and “as available.” KeepKey disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be secure, uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every device, network, asset, smart contract or third-party service.
Some jurisdictions do not allow particular warranty exclusions. In that case, the exclusions apply only to the extent permitted, and your mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
11
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KeepKey and its affiliates, officers, employees, contractors and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of assets, profits, data, goodwill or access, arising from the App, a compromised device or secret, user error, market movement, a network, smart contract, token, dApp or third-party service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, aggregate liability arising from the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid KeepKey specifically for the App during the previous 12 months or USD $100. Limitations do not apply where prohibited or to liability that cannot legally be limited.
12
Governing law and general terms
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory law in your location applies. Nothing in these Terms removes rights you cannot waive under applicable consumer law.
If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, reorganization or transfer of the relevant business, subject to applicable law.
13
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the App, law or risk. We will update the date on this page and provide additional notice where legally required. Material changes may require a new in-App acknowledgement. If you do not agree to updated Terms, stop using the App after safely preserving your recovery method.
